케임브릿지 사전은 'entomb'을 "to bury someone or something(어떤 사람 또는 사물을 묻다)"이라고 정의했다.

"The nuclear waste has been entombed in concrete deep under the ground(핵 폐기물은 지하 깊이 콘크리트로 묻혀 있다)."

콜린스 사전은 'entomb'을 이렇게 설명했다. "If something is entombed, it is buried or permanently trapped by something(어떤 것이 entomb된다면, 그것이 묻히거나 어떤 것 안에 영원히 갇히는 것이다)." 격식을 차린(formal) 표현이다.

"The city was entombed in volcanic lava(그 도시는 화산 용암에 갇혔다)."
