케임브릿지 사전은 명사 'histronics'를 "very emotional and energetic behaviour that is not sincere and has no real meaning(진실하지 않고 진짜 의미가 없는, 아주 감정적이고 에너지 넘치는 행동)"이라고 정의했다.

"I'd had enough of Lydia's histrionics(나는 리디아의 꾸민 듯한 태도에 질렸다)."

콜린스 사전은 형용사 'histrionics'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If you refer to someone's behaviour as histrionic, you are critical of it because it is very dramatic, exaggerated, and insincere(어떤 사람의 행동을 histrionic이라고 표현한다면, 그것이 아주 드라마틱하고, 과장되었으며, 진실되지 않기 때문에 비판하는 것이다)." 못마땅해하는(disapproval) 뉘앙스이다.
