[영어 공부] Knock it off!(그만해!)

 

나는 'Knock it off!'라 하면 난 이 짤이 가장 먼저 생각난다. 그냥 딱 이런 이미지랄까?

 

케임브릿지 사전은 'knock it off'를 "used to tell someone to stop doing something that annoys you(상대에게 짜증나게 하는 일을 그만두라고 할 때 쓰는 말)"라고 정의했다.

"Oh, knock it off Alex, I'm really not in the mood for your jokes(아, 그만둬 알렉스. 네 농담 들어줄 기분 아니야)."

콜린스 사전은 'knock it off'를 이렇게 설명했다. "If you tell someone to knock it off, you are telling them to stop doing something that is annoying you(누군가에게 knock it off라고 말한다면, 당신을 짜증나게 하는 일을 멈추라고 말하는 것이다)." 인포멀(informal)한 표현이다.

"Will you just knock it off!(좀 그만하라고!)"

롱맨 사전은 'knock it off'를 "used to tell someone to stop doing something, because it is annoying you(어떤 일이 당신을 짜증나게 하기 때문에 그것을 그만하라고 할 때 하는 말)"라고 풀이했다.
