[영어 공부] up and running(잘 작동되는, 제대로 운영되는 중인)

 

왜 내 노트북은 업데이트를 하면서 종료하면 배터리를 100% 충전한 상태였어도 밤새 다 방전되고 다음 날에 다시 충전기를 꽂아야만 켜지는 걸까?

이유는 모르겠지만 어쨌거나 충전기를 꽂았더니 지금 내 노트북은 up and running(잘 작동되는) 중이다.

케임브릿지 사전은 'up and running'을 이렇게 설명했다. "If something, especially a system or a machine, is up and running it is operating(무엇, 특히 시스템이나 기계가 up and running 한다면, 이는 작동하는 것이다)"

"The engineer soon got the air-conditioning up and running again(엔지니어는 순식간에 에어컨을 다시 작동하도록 고쳐 놓았다)."

콜린스 사전은 'up and running'에 대해 "If something such as a system or place is up and running, it is operating normally(시스템이나 어떤 장소가 up and running 한다면, 정상적으로 운영하는 것이다)."라고 쓰고 있다.

"We're trying to get the medical facilities up and running again(우리는 의료 시설을 다시 정상 운영 하려고 노력하는 중입니다)."

맥밀란 사전은 'up and running'을 "starting to work correctly(제대로 작동하기 시작하는)"라고 정의한다.

"It took two years to get the project up and running(그 프로젝트는 제대로 띄울 때까지 2년이나 걸렸다)."
