케임브릿지 사전은 'drab'을 "boring, especially in appearance; having little colour and excitement(특히 외양이 지루한; 색깔과 흥미로움이 적은)"라고 정의했다.

"She walked through the city centre with its drab, grey buildings and felt depressed(그녀는 칙칙한 회색 건물들이 있는 도심을 걸어나가며 우울함을 느꼈다)."

"I feel so drab in this grey uniform(나는 이 회색 유니폼을 입으면 칙칙한 느낌이야)."

콜린스 사전은 'drab'을 이렇게 설명했다. "If you describe something as drab, you think that it is dull and boring to look at or experience(어떤 것을 drab이라고 묘사한다면, 당신은 그것이 보거나 경험하기에 따분하고 지루하다고 생각하는 것이다)."
